Total Lunar Eclipse (Dec 10, 2011)

This is the total eclipse of the Moon, December 10, 2011, taken from the grounds of the Rothney Astrophysical Observatory, near Priddis Alberta, and looking west to the Rockies. This is a 30-second tracked exposure at ISO 500 with the Canon 5DMkII and Sigma 50mm lens at f/2.8. Being tracked the stars are points but the ground is trailed slightly. This was taken just before the start of totality. The Pleiades are at right, Betelgeuse is at left. The Moon is in Taurus.
