The lodgepole pine “Survivor Tree” on the high plains of Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park, Alberta, lit by moonlight with the Milky Way in the sky above. A single frame from a 250-frame time-lapse sequence, shot July 15, 2013. This is a 3-second exposure at f/2 with the 24mm lens and Canon 5D MkII at ISO 2000. This lone tree on the plains has survived fire, drought, being cut down and still remains as a historic landmark.
