Moonrise at City of Rocks Panorama

Full Moonrise at the City of Rocks State Park, New Mexico, November 6, 2014. The curving blue arc is the shadow of the Earth projected onto the upper atmosphere. The pink band above it is the Belt of Venus, where red sunlight is still lighting the upper atmosphere. The Moon was full, rising about 8 minutes after sunset this night. Pity it didn’t rise a little sooner so the Belt of Venus would have a little brighter. It was beginning to fade by the time the Moon rose.

This is a 5-segment panorama with the 16-35mm lens at 35mm on the Canon 6D, and 30° spacings. Stitched with Photoshop Photomerge command.
