Comet Lovejoy, C/2014 Q2, a wide binocular field west of M45, the Pleiades star cluster in Taurus, on January 15, 2015. I shot this from the backyard at Silver City, New Mexico. The long blue ion tail stretched back for about 8°.
This is a stack of 10 x 2 minute exposures with the 135mm telephoto lens at f/2.5 and Canon 5D MkII at ISO 1600. Tracked on the Sky-Watcher Sky Guider but without guiding.
