Impending Occultation of Beta Capricorni

The bright and wide double syar, Beta Capricorni, a.k.a. Dabih, hangs on the leading limb of the crescent Moon, about to be hidden, or occulted by the Moon in a few minutes. This was Wednesday, November 26, 2014, shot from New Mexico. The dark side of the Moon is illuminated by Earthshine.

This is a high dynamic range composite of 12 exposures from 4 seconds to 1/500 second, at ISO 400 with the Canon 60Da and through the TMB 92mm apo refractor at f/5.5 with the Hotech flattener. Images merged and tone-mapped in Photoshop HDR Pro and ACR.
