The centre of the Milky Way through Sagittarius and Scorpius, shot from Atacama Lodge, San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, May 6, 2011, with this area of sky overhead. This is a stack of six 3-minute exposures at f/2.8 and ISO 800 with the Canon 5D MkII and 35mm lens. Four images were taken thru Kenko Softon filter and two exposures taken without filter (should have been the other way around, but it was early in the morning at 5 am!).
