I am pleased to present my latest music video featuring Alberta Skies in motion, set to the music of Ian Tyson.
My 5-minute video features time-lapse imagery shot over the last three years in the plains, badlands, and mountains of Alberta.
Do click through to Vimeo and view in HD for the best quality.
The footage is set to the music of Alberta singer/songwriter Ian Tyson, and his superb rendition of Home on the Range. It is used by kind permission of Ian Tyson and Stony Plain Records. Thanks!
It was hearing Ian’s version of this song on CBC one day in 1992 when his album And Stood There Amazed came out that inspired me to move back to Alberta and the great landscapes of the west that I knew I wanted to capture.
Little did I know at the time how it was going to be possible in the 2000s to do it in time-lapse.
Enjoy!

Spectacular compilation, nicely presented with Ian Tyson’s song. I hope sometime you consider producing one to K.d Lang.
Absolutely beautiful! Leaves me speechless.
Ken

Thank you so much. I don’t respond much but I want you to know that I follow your posts with delight.
This was beautiful, Alan. I am a fan of Ian, who has been the ultimate Albertan musician for many years.
I lived in Alberta for close to 50 years (grew up in England) and recently moved to Victoria. While I don’t miss the long winters a whole lot, I admit to feeling a little bit homesick while I was watching your video.
I intend to watch it over again and will share it on Facebook – I know a few more transplanted Albertans who will enjoy it.
Thank you!
(p.s. Do you have a mountain video in the works?)
Thanks! I produced a Rockies video 2 years ago at https://vimeo.com/channels/amazingsky/105831981
Hi Alan,
Amazing, indeed! Thank you for sharing. It was especially poignant to listen and watch as I was writing about the passing of our friend Geoff Gaherty.

Yes, sad news indeed. I observed with Geoff several years ago in Australia.
Absolutely beautiful! My husband and I met you at The Reesor Ranch 2 years ago. I have followed you work ever since!
Thanks! I’m hoping to get permission for a Connie Kaldor song so I can put up a video of Cypress Hills as well!
